Generally speaking, the idea of making a comic strip out of The Master and Margarita strikes me as… bold, to put it mildly. To dare to condense the novel into a few dozen panels with speech bubbles? The artist Rodion Tanaev has tried, yet even he couldn’t do without long blocks of text (and who could?). Be that as it may, let a hundred flowers bloom—the more varied illustrations of Bulgakov’s novel, the better, right?
